Kimchi or Sauerkraut is just one of the popular fermented foods we’ve grown to love. Fermenting foods has been one of the methods used by our ancestors in preserving foods and up to now it is still being practiced in some parts of our world. Fermented foods are still popular because not only it preserves your food in a natural way, but mainly, it promotes healthy digestion around your gut. It kills off the bad bacteria and only retains the good bacteria which is called Lactobacillus.

Lactobacillus is considered a good bacteria as it converts sugars and carbohydrates into lactic acid. This helps gut to restore the balance of our immune system and alleviate inflammatory diseases in our intestines. This can offer relief especially if you are experiencing bloating and IBS.

When you think of fermented foods, the first thing that comes to mind is cabbage. It was no surprise why you would think of cabbage immediately, though. Depending on how you cook your cabbage, you can preserve more nutrients of it. Take, for example, boiling cabbage and drinking its juice create a soothing tonic in your GI tract.

    Are sauerkraut and kimchi good for all three phases?

      Hi, Yvonne! Yes, you can have both on all phases. Just skip using the olive oil if you’re making it on Phase 1/2. Hope this helps! 🙂
